Office Organizing Barrier #1:

Are you thinking you don’t have time to be organized?

Does a bear sleep in the woods? If so, then you can create a plan to master your time. This barrier shows up at the beginning of the day when you look at your planner and see a long list of things that MUST be done today. Chances are that most of them will not be completed and life will go on the same as any other day when nothing gets done.

If you have a long list of tasks, the brain goes into cluttered mode and it is hard to get any of it done. It is like The White Rabbit in Alice in Wonderland “I’m late, I’m late for a very important date” as he scurries off down the road in a panic.

Note to self — panicking does not solve problems. However, a bit of planning the day before does create a level of priority for what you really need to do.

Then, you can concentrate on the most important task and finish it before going to the next one. That is how to get things accomplished in a timely manner. Set a timer and focus on ONE thing that you can complete and gain control of your day.
